**VACANCY: SAFETY AND HYGIENE ASSISTANT**

**Reports to:** Safety Supervisor / Site Resident
**Employment Type:** Full-time, fixed-term project-based position
**JOB OBJECTIVE**: Support the implementation and monitoring of safety and hygiene measures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with NOM-031-STPS-2011 during excavation work, safeguarding personnel, equipment, and third parties.
**FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Field surveillance
Conduct daily inspections of the excavation zone to identify unsafe conditions: unstable slopes, accumulated water, unmarked machinery, personnel without PPE.
Verify that all personnel wear complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): helmet, reflective vest, boots, goggles, gloves. Deny access to non-compliant individuals.
Demarcate and signpost hazardous areas: using tapes, cones, signs reading "Deep Excavation", "Do Not Enter".
Monitor heavy machinery operations: backhoe loaders, dump trucks. Act as the "flagman" when required.
* Document control
Assist in completing AST - Job Safety Analysis prior to shift commencement.
Take attendance and verify that personnel possess valid DC-3 forms for excavation work.
Maintain a daily log of incidents, near-misses, and reported conditions.
Inspect first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and assembly points to ensure completeness and validity.
* Training and prevention
Deliver 5-minute safety talks at the start of each shift regarding day-specific hazards: rain, soil type, depth.
Orient new workers on evacuation routes and procedures in case of collapse.
Suspend activities upon detecting imminent risks: slope cracks, excessive vibration, electrical storms.
* Emergencies
Activate emergency protocols in case of accidents: secure the area, contact the emergency brigade, assist with first aid if certified.
Coordinate with the site resident for evacuation during flooding or collapse.
**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
**Education:** Completed high school or technical degree in Industrial Safety. Preferred.
**Experience:** 6 months – 1 year on civil works, excavation, or heavy construction projects.
**Knowledge:** NOM-031-STPS-2011, NOM-009-STPS, proper use of PPE, identification of excavation hazards, basic first aid.
**Skills:** Observation, authority to halt work, clear communication, tolerance for outdoor work under sun/rain.
**Availability:** Shift work, weekend availability, willingness to relocate for out-of-town projects if applicable.
Required documents: Valid DC-3 for Excavation Work; DC-3 for First Aid preferred.

Salary: $10,000 – $14,000 MXN monthly net, based on experience + overtime pay.
