Proposes design innovations to improve efficiency and maintenance. **Your Role** The NPI Tooling Engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence initiatives through engineering design, process optimization, mold improvement, and cost-reduction strategies. This role integrates technical problem-solving, lean manufacturing methodologies, and detailed design support to ensure manufacturing efficiency, quality performance, and successful execution of projects across production lines and tool development. **Our Team** Molex creates connections for life by enabling technologies that transform the future and improve lives. With a presence in over 40 countries, Molex offers a comprehensive range of connectivity products, services, and solutions for the data communications, medical, industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics industries. **What You’ll Do** * Support mold design improvements, design reviews, drawing validation, and engineering documentation. * Collaborate directly with mold suppliers and tool manufacturers to ensure compliance with design standards, material specifications, parting line requirements, hot runner implementation, and manufacturing. * Analyze mold-related issues (e.g., wear, cooling inefficiencies, venting, cycle time constraints) and propose technical solutions. * Coordinate drawing approvals, changes, insert modifications, and corrective actions for mold performance. * Propose design innovations that reduce cycle time, improve energy efficiency, and simplify mold maintenance. * Create or update engineering drawings, technical documentation, and engineering change requests. * Manage version control and release of 2D/3D mold designs, ensuring proper revision tracking. * Provide design recommendations to improve part manufacturability (DFM/DFMEA). * Review and approve supplier drawings, ensuring alignment with project requirements and internal standards. * Conduct time studies, capability studies, and root cause analyses (8D, Ishikawa, 5Why). * Mold qualification and transfer **Who You Are** * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Design Engineering, or related field. * Experience in mold tooling, plastic processing, or manufacturing engineering. * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and OPEX tools. * Proficiency in CAD platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD). * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Effective communication with suppliers and cross-functional teams. **What Would Give You an Edge** * Knowledge of molding processes * Knowledge of scientific molding At Koch, we are entrepreneurs.
