Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little or no supervision. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radios). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and building disconnect switches. Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed. Ensure daily activities and issues are communicated to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate proficiency in any of the following categories, above-average skill in two or more of the following categories, and basic skill in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Demonstrate solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Demonstrate basic proficiency in repairing or replacing copper or PVC piping (including soldering). Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including light bulbs, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switch and outlet replacements, and other guest room items. Program televisions and perform general maintenance and engineering-related tasks. Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and woodwork repairs, bulb and air conditioner filter replacements, and thorough cleaning of painting or repair areas. Use lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance work. Demonstrate practical knowledge of all engineering software related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices interfacing with such software. Demonstrate average proficiency in diagnosing malfunctions in the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Demonstrate proficiency in training and guiding other engineers (e.g., Engineer I). Demonstrate proficiency in performing the duties of the On-Call Engineer, including readings and rounds. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents or injuries, complete safety training and certifications, and store flammable materials appropriately. Ensure both uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain property information confidentiality and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate guest service needs and fulfill them, assist guests with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure quality expectations and standards are met. DESIRABLE SKILLS Education: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate preferred, or vocational/technical training certification. Relevant Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation, and painting. Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel engineering/maintenance. Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience is not required. MANDATORY SKILLS License or Certification: Valid driver’s license Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.
