Amazon's mission is to be the Earth's most customer-centric company, and our award-winning Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is a key part of achieving that goal. Amazon is one of the world's most recognized brands because we deliver millions of products to our customers. Giving our best effort for our customers is where we draw our energy—and that's why you'll find we approach things differently here.
Amazon's Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is essential to our operations: they keep critical machinery running at all times. As an RME technician, you will maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding the highest health and safety standards. You will help keep your colleagues safe and prevent machine downtime. Our RME technicians increase equipment availability and quality, and also work to improve the operational environment.
Key job responsibilities
* Proactive and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of facility equipment.
* Perform reactive repairs and fault diagnostics in an active distribution center.
* Use the latest tools to maximize equipment effectiveness.
* Adhere to all health and safety policies and practices.
* Support on-site apprentice development and progression.
* Work on continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across multiple sites in Mexico.
A day in the life
Our RME technicians are site-based so they can respond quickly to any machinery issues. You will carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on our site equipment to ensure safe operation. As an RME technician, you will also promptly respond to breakdowns, investigating, identifying, and implementing solutions as quickly as possible. You will also make suggestions for long-term improvements.
Working alongside more experienced colleagues, you will perform daily maintenance tasks and communicate with contractors when external expertise is needed. You may work a variety of shifts to ensure our sites have 24/7 support, enabling Amazon to deliver at the speed for which we are known.
About the team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps our equipment operating at peak performance. We are a technically minded team composed of excellent team players and guided by experienced leaders. We work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of distribution centers. Some of our employees are leaders who supervise teams while working with exciting technologies—some of which exist only at Amazon.
From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing general site maintenance and repairing key distribution equipment, our team handles most of Amazon’s technical aspects. This includes maintaining buildings in compliance with regulations, ensuring everyone’s safety, and keeping our sites operating at maximum efficiency. There are many opportunities for advancement, both within the RME team and across Amazon overall.
We work to reduce downtime at Amazon’s critical operations sites so customers receive their orders on time. If we identify a better way to do something, we have the skills and opportunity to develop and introduce entirely new processes or cutting-edge technologies.
