Job Summary: A technician responsible for the installation, termination, and certification of voice, data, and video cabling systems, ensuring quality and performance standards. Key Highlights: 1. UTP and Fiber Optic cabling installation, termination, and rack mounting. 2. Use of testing equipment for certification and technical documentation. 3. Knowledge of TIA/EIA standards and operation of specialized tools. **Objective Summary** The technician will be responsible for the installation, termination, labeling, and certification of voice, data, and video cabling systems. Their work ensures that the physical communication infrastructure meets the required quality and performance standards for company or client operations. **Primary Responsibilities** * Physical Installation: Running UTP (Cat 5e, 6, 6A) and Fiber Optic (single-mode and multi-mode) cables through conduits, cable trays, and raceways. * Termination and Connectivity: Punching down jacks and patch panels, and mechanical or fusion splicing of fiber optic connectors. * Infrastructure: Rack and cabinet mounting, cable management (bundling and routing), and wall/ceiling bracket installation. * Testing and Certification: Using test equipment (e.g., Fluke Networks) to verify continuity, bandwidth, and compliance with industry standards. * Documentation: Reading and interpreting architectural drawings and network diagrams, as well as accurate labeling of each node. **Technical Requirements (Hard Skills)** * Standards: Solid knowledge of TIA/EIA-568, TIA/EIA-569, and TIA/EIA-606 standards. * Tools: Expert use of impact tools, punch-down tools, cable strippers, and drilling/rotary hammer equipment. * Fiber Optics: (Desirable) Experience in fusion splicing and OTDR operation. * Safety: Knowledge of industrial safety standards and working at heights (use of PPE). **Personal Competencies (Soft Skills)** * Attention to Detail: For aesthetic cable management and precise labeling. * Problem Solving: Ability to quickly identify connectivity faults. * Physical Fitness: Willingness to work in confined spaces, at heights, or in prolonged positions. * Organization: Maintaining a clean worksite and controlled material inventory. **Education and Experience Requirements** * Education: Technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Networking, or related field. * Experience: Minimum 1–2 years in network infrastructure projects. * Certifications (Preferred): Manufacturer certifications (Panduit, CommScope, Belden) or working-at-heights certifications.
