Job Summary: Coordinate and ensure accuracy in foreign trade operations, guarantee customs compliance, and optimize import/export processes. Key Highlights: 1. Participate in improvements to import/export processes. **Customs Compliance Analyst \- Trimco, Otay, Tijuana, B.C.** **Key Responsibilities:** * Ensure accuracy of captured information for use in foreign trade operations. It is critical to verify that all activities comply with customs legislation to avoid penalties, fines, or delays. * Execute the unloading process correctly, on time, and as required within the inventory control system. * Train other departments on topics related to customs compliance. * Collect necessary information (e.g., certificates of origin, government permits, or any operational requirements) from each involved department to achieve accurate tariff classification. * Coordinate proper disposition of obsolete machinery and/or equipment. * Perform and coordinate necessary activities to maintain accurate electronic documentation control for machinery and equipment. * Cross-functional collaboration (working with manufacturing, engineering, and procurement teams) to identify and correct inaccuracies in BOMs, classifications, part number setup, etc. * Participate in Gemba meetings and provide guidance for appropriate implementation in compliance with customs regulations. * Participate in new product introduction meetings and provide guidance for appropriate implementation in compliance with customs regulations. * Maintain up-to-date electronic and physical documentation and records required for internal and external audits, as well as for authorities at both plants. * Collaborate on implementing process improvements for imports/exports to optimize costs, timelines, and compliance. * Maintain comprehensive knowledge of proper usage of the automated inventory control system, ensuring data integrity per established procedures. * Support other activities related to customs compliance and operations. * Coordinate with the U.S. Trade Compliance team and the customs broker for tariff classification of raw materials and other indirect materials. * Ensure accuracy of captured information for use in foreign trade operations.
