Operates equipment such as forklifts and packaging machinery. **Job Description** **SUMMARY** The Forklift Operator loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near the warehouse, performs dock transfers, trailer transfers, yard transfers, or on-site transfers while performing the following tasks. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.* Read work orders or follow oral instructions to ensure that the correct material or containers are moved. * Receive items for shipment, inspect visually to identify type, quantity, and condition; check for obvious damage and segregate items requiring special handling. * Open containers according to work instructions or supervisor’s instructions. * Load and unload materials onto pallets, trays, or shelves, manually or using forklifts or other material-handling equipment. * Load materials into carrier vehicles and install straps, binders, or logistics bars (chocks) to prevent material movement or transit damage. * Complete shipping and receiving documentation accurately per ProTrans specifications using the barcode scanner. * Count, weigh, and record the number of units of material handled or moved in the PTI system. * Ensure proper identification: mark all shipments and use appropriate labels, including special material-handling instructions. * Coordinate transportation requirements; coordinate any special material-handling issues; obtain data to prepare reports. * Store incoming or outgoing cargo awaiting processing; organize materials into bundles and wrap them per work instructions. * Lift heavy objects manually or with powered equipment; clean the work area, machines, and motorized equipment; conduct daily safety and equipment inspections. * Operate machinery such as stretch wrappers, strapping machines, and sealers. * Follow all safety procedures; actively work to improve individual and facility safety records. * Actively work to improve quality.
