Optical Fiber Splicer

Description

**Objective:** The optical fiber splicer is responsible for performing optical fiber splices using precise and efficient techniques, ensuring reliable network connectivity. In addition, they provide technical support to installers, conduct OTDR testing, and ensure proper handling of work vehicles. **Requirements:** * Availability for flexible scheduling, ability to work under pressure, leadership skills, decision-making ability, teamwork, strong analytical skills for problem solving, and reporting capability. * Prior experience in optical fiber splicing, preferably in a telecommunications environment. * Completed high school education or equivalent. * Certification in optical fiber splicing techniques (desirable). * Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as required. **Responsibilities:** * Perform optical fiber splicing using fusion or mechanical splicing techniques. * Prepare and organize the work area prior to splicing, ensuring it is clean, safe, and properly equipped. * Conduct OTDR testing to verify the integrity and efficiency of the optical fiber network. * Conduct insertion loss and/or power testing to verify the integrity and efficiency of the optical fiber network. * Provide technical support to installers during installation and maintenance of the optical fiber network. * Safely and responsibly operate work vehicles, transporting equipment and materials as needed. * Maintain accurate records of all activities performed, including splices completed, tests conducted, and materials used. * Comply with all safety regulations and procedures related to working at heights, handling equipment and tools, and operating vehicles.
