Position Overview:
The Import\-Export Assistant supports daily international trade and logistics operations by coordinating import and export activities, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, maintaining accurate operational records, and supporting cross\-functional communication. This role works closely with customs brokers, freight providers, and internal departments to support efficient and compliant import\-export processes.
Position Responsibilities:
* Support import and export operations to ensure compliance with Mexico and U.S. customs regulations, including U.S. and MX HTS classification, country of origin, customs valuation, and product descriptions.
* Execution and coordination of virtual transfer movements related to import\-export operations.
* Coordinate import\-export logistics activities with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and freight carriers.
* Prepare, organize, and maintain import\-export records and document retention files in both physical and digital formats.
* Capture, reconcile, and maintain daily operational data, including cycle times, shipment exceptions, and delays, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Support departmental activities and provide documentation and operational assistance during internal and external audits.
* Analyze operational information, reports, and documentation assigned by the immediate supervisor.
* Coordinate activities with cross\-functional departments to support operational efficiency and business objectives.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization projects as required by management.
Experience and Requirements
**Minimum Qualifications:**
* 2\-3 years of experience in a maquiladora or shelter environment.
* Strong communication skills.
* Able to work under pressure and in a fast\-paced environment.
* Proactive \& Organized.
* Detail\-oriented \& proficient in a teamwork\-oriented department.
* Microsoft Office
* Basic\-Intermediate level.
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
* Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Trade Compliance, International Business, or similar.
* Basic English Language
* Skills with intermediate working proficiency.
* Knowledge of Supply Chain Certifications (CTPAT and OEA)
* Knowledge of Mexico Trade Software IXPORT
* Customer service\-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
