Lead Database Administrator

Description

We are looking for a skilled Lead Database Administrator to take charge of our on\-premises infrastructure. In this position, you will be responsible for the management and security of mission\-critical PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB (EDB) Postgres Advanced Server systems. Your expertise will help ensure continuous uptime, robust data compliance, and smooth migrations in both physical and virtual environments. **Responsibilities** * Oversee the administration and upkeep of PostgreSQL and EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) clusters in an on\-premises setting * Enhance database efficiency by analyzing and tuning slow queries and modifying parameters with EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM) * Maintain high availability by managing failover, replication, and disaster recovery processes using EDB tools * Implement and monitor security protocols, including patch management, access control, and encryption within the on\-premises infrastructure * Facilitate migration projects by developing and supporting Oracle\-compatible PL/SQL objects for integration with legacy systems **Requirements** * At least 5 years of hands\-on experience in database administration with a strong background in PostgreSQL and EDB in production environments * Minimum of one year in a leadership or people management role, overseeing teams of 5 or more members * Demonstrated experience managing databases on\-premises, including on bare metal, VMware, or private cloud platforms * Expert\-level knowledge of EDB Failover Manager (EFM), Backup and Recovery Tool (BART), and EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM) * Advanced skills in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and Oracle compatibility features such as PL/SQL * Proficiency in Linux system administration, shell scripting, and storage performance tuning * Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English at B2\+ level or above
