It develops inspection programs, performs complex dimensional measurements, analyzes results, and supports GD&T interpretation to ensure product conformance. Additionally, it participates in diagnosing dimensional variations, identifies deviations, coordinates corrective actions, and maintains measurement system integrity within the Metrology and Quality area. **What You’ll Do:** 1. Develop and optimize CMM measurement programs based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T, ensuring accurate and reliable measurements. 2. Perform dimensional measurements using CMMs and other advanced metrology equipment (e.g., FARO arms, optical systems, profilometers, roughness testers, etc.). 3. Validate generated programs through testing, adjustments, and correlations prior to release to production. 4. Interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances (GD&T) to ensure measurements meet customer requirements. 5. Record dimensional results in reports, quality systems, or internal platforms to ensure traceability. 6. Analyze measurement results to detect trends, deviations, or variations in key processes. 7. Identify, document, and contain non-conforming parts, initiating deviation control procedures. 8. Collaborate with Process Engineering, Production, and Quality to resolve dimensional issues and define corrective actions. 9. Provide technical support for capability studies, GR&R, PPAP, measurement validations, and audits. 10. Maintain and calibrate assigned measurement equipment, reporting detected anomalies or deviations. 11. Update and manage technical documentation related to measurements: measurement instructions, programs, visual criteria, and dimensional reports. 12. Manage BIQ & CQMS metrics. 13. Ensure compliance with specifications. 14. Monitor PPM, SPC, and FPY metrics. 15. Participate in developing control plans aligned with BIQ criteria and internal PPAP processes. 16. Adhere to 5S in the workplace and promote sound metrology practices. **What Skills You’ll Bring:** **1. Analytical thinking and problem solving** Ability to interpret measurement data, detect dimensional variations, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions. **2. Attention to detail** Skill to detect minimal deviations in measurements, drawings, and tolerances, ensuring absolute accuracy in results. **3. Technical proficiency and continuous learning** Competence in operating, programming, and validating CMMs and other advanced metrology instruments, staying current with standards and methodologies. **4. Technical interpretation (GD&T and drawings)** Ability to understand and accurately apply GD&T symbology, CAD models, and dimensional specifications. **5. Collaborative work and effective communication** Ease in coordinating with Production, Engineering, and Quality; documenting findings; and clearly communicating dimensional results. **6. Quality orientation and standards compliance** Commitment to traceability, technical documentation, measurement audits, and adherence to quality systems (PPAP, GR&R, BIQ, CQMS). **Basic Requirements:** * **Education:** Technical degree in Metrology, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. * **Experience:** Minimum 1 year of experience in CMM programming (Polyworks, CAM, OpenDemis, CreateForm) or dimensional metrology in manufacturing environments. * **Technical Assessment: Yes** * **Shift Rotation: Yes** **Additional Information:** * **Location:** Caterpillar Torreón * **Relocation assistance:** No \#LI **Posting Dates:** March 4, 2026 \- March 12, 2026 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
