Description

Summary: Develop and industrialize thermoplastic extrusion processes for multilayer hoses and specialty profiles while leading cost-reduction initiatives. Highlights: 1. Challenge the status quo in a collaborative environment 2. Engineer solutions exceeding customer expectations 3. Lead cost-reduction initiatives using DMAIC and Lean tools **Date:** Mar 13, 2026 **Location:** Atlacomulco, Mexico State, MX, 50450 **Company:** Gates Corporation Are you inspired by challenging the status quo? Do you thrive in collaborative environments that drive results? If so, Gates could be for you. Gates is a leading manufacturer of application\-specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. We push the boundaries of material science to engineer solutions that continually exceed customer expectations. Let's simplify it, think belts and hoses. Found in motorcycles, conveyor belts, cars, tractors, blenders, vacuum cleaners, bicycles, \& 3D printers just to name a few. Because why not do it all? **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** ----------------------------------------- * Develop and industrialize thermoplastic extrusion processes for multilayer hoses, reinforced tubing, and specialty profiles for data center and airbrake applications. * Define and execute validation plans (OQ/PQ), including extrusion tooling trials, melt temperature studies, puller speed optimization, cooling efficiency tests, and adhesion validation between layers. * Lead cost\-reduction initiatives involving material optimization, scrap reduction, cycle\-time improvements, and tooling wear management. * Use DMAIC and Lean tools to improve yield, dimensional stability, and extrusion line uptime. * Review customer specifications and drawings to ensure manufacturability, focusing on burst pressure requirements, permeability performance, bend radius, dimensional tolerances, and regulatory compliance (such as SAE J1401 for airbrake hoses). * Create and maintain BOMs, routings, and process parameters in ERP systems. * Monitor and report extrusion KPIs including scrap, OEE, Cp/Cpk for critical dimensions, extrusion pressure fluctuations, cooling\-line stability, and layer adhesion performance. * Collaborate cross\-functionally to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased throughput, and improved product reliability. * Support ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 audits with documentation and corrective action support. * Maintain FMEAs, control plans, setup sheets, material handling procedures, and process validation records. **Requirements and Preferred Skills** ------------------------------------- * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Polymer, or Industrial Engineering. * Minimum 3 years of experience in thermoplastic extrusion, preferably for hose, tubing, or multilayer structures. * Experience with Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC). * Advanced English communication skills for technical discussions. * Proficiency using statistical software such as Minitab or JMP. * Familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle. * Strong problem\-solving, analytical, and communication skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment. **Preferred Qualifications** ---------------------------- * Experience with multilayer extrusion, co\-extrusion, and/or reinforced hose construction. * Knowledge of relevant standards such as SAE J1401 (airbrake hoses) and UL/FM requirements (data center cooling). * Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement. * Background working with cross\-functional and geographically distributed teams. * Basic maintenance knowledge of extrusion lines, dies, mandrels, pullers, and braiding equipment (if applicable). **About You** ------------- * Strategic thinker focused on robust process development and customer requirements. * Able to communicate technical concepts to non\-technical audiences. * Collaborative, team\-oriented, and able to influence without authority. * Passionate about learning, technical growth, and continuous improvement. * Comfortable working in a fast\-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment. WHY GATES? Founded in 1911 in Denver, Colorado, Gates is publicly traded on the NYSE. While we might operate in a vast amount of time zones we operate as 'One Gates' and have a common goal of pushing the boundaries of materials science. We invest in our people, bringing real\-world experience that enables us to solve our customers' diverse challenges of today and anticipate those of tomorrow.
