Job Summary: A truck driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods, performing inspections, basic maintenance, and trip recordkeeping. Key Highlights: 1. Responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods. 2. Performs safety inspections and basic truck maintenance. 3. Requires knowledge of traffic laws and ability to plan routes. A truck driver, also known as a trucker, is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include operating the truck, maintaining the vehicle, keeping documentation current, conducting safety and sanitation inspections, loading and unloading cargo, and maintaining trip records. Key Responsibilities: 1\. Operating the truck: Follow assigned routes and meet delivery schedules. 2\. Safety and sanitation inspections: Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the truck is clean and in good working condition and that the cargo is secure. 3\. Loading and unloading cargo: Assist in loading and unloading goods, using loading/unloading equipment when necessary. 4\. Truck maintenance: Perform inspections and basic maintenance to ensure the truck remains in good condition. Maintain current documentation for vehicle operation. 5\. Trip recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of driving activities, including hours worked, kilometers driven, and deliveries completed. 6\. Compliance with regulations: Adhere to traffic laws and transportation industry regulations. Required Skills: * Knowledge of traffic laws and transportation regulations. * Ability to operate various types of trucks. * Ability to plan routes and manage time. * Ability to communicate effectively with other drivers, customers, and dispatchers. * Knowledge of cargo safety. * Ability to perform basic truck maintenance. * Capacity to work independently and under pressure. Requirements: * Commercial driver's license (Class C). * Clean driving record. * Responsibility and problem-solving skills. * Physical fitness. * Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests. * Prior experience as a truck driver (may vary depending on position type).
