Operate the telephone switchboard. Process guest requests for wake-up calls, call identification, “Do Not Disturb,” call forwarding, teleconferences, calls relayed through a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD), and calls from unregistered guests. Inform guests of any messages they have received. Monitor busy or unanswered lines; stay in contact with callers on hold to update their status and offer to take messages. Receive, record, and relay messages accurately, completely, and legibly. Activate and deactivate guest room indicator lights as appropriate. Train guests on Internet access; transfer guests experiencing issues to the service provider’s customer support line. Test communication equipment to ensure proper functionality. Respond to special requests from guests with exceptional needs. Contact the appropriate person or department, as needed, to resolve guest calls, requests, or issues. Follow up with guests to ensure their requests or issues have been resolved to their complete satisfaction. Dispatch bellhops or service staff, as necessary. Comply with all company policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to management; ensure uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets. Greet and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate their service needs and fulfill them; thank them with genuine appreciation; assist guests with disabilities. Communicate with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using proper protocol. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others; support the team in achieving common goals. Adhere to quality assurance expectations and standards. Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time. Enter and locate information using computers and/or point-of-sale (POS) systems. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 10 pounds or less without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
