Role Responsibilities Technical & Architectural Leadership (~40%) * Design scalable and secure cloud architectures on **AWS and/or Azure**. * Serve as the technical point of reference for internal teams and client stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication. * Balance speed of MVP delivery with long-term scalability. * Be accountable for the evolution of **backend, cloud, and data architecture** foundations. * Evaluate **build vs. buy** decisions for data and AI components. * Contribute to technical roadmaps. * Ensure foundational best practices for **security, privacy, and compliance** across all systems. Hands-on Development & Delivery (~40%) * Develop backend services and data pipelines using **Python and Node.js**. * Build and maintain **APIs** (REST; GraphQL is a plus). * Lead data ingestion and transformation pipelines. * Integrate **LLMs, RAG pipelines, and ML services**. * Maintain **CI/CD** and **Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)** pipelines. * Participate in code reviews and critical deployments. This is a **hands-on role**: regular programming on production systems is expected. Team Leadership & Engineering Culture (~20%) * Mentor developers and data engineers. * Promote best practices in code quality and testing. * Scale processes pragmatically, avoiding over-engineering. * Foster a collaborative engineering culture. Role Requirements * Approximately **8 years of experience** in backend, data, or platform engineering. * Strong production experience with **Python and/or Node.js**. * Solid experience with **AWS and/or Azure**. * Experience with backend systems and data pipelines. * Experience with **CI/CD** and cloud-native development. * **Fluent and clear English**, both spoken and written. * Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Data & AI Fundamentals * Familiarity with **OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Anthropic**. * Experience with **RAG architectures** (FAISS, Weaviate, Qdrant). * Knowledge of **ML / NLP** fundamentals. * Pragmatic approach to applying AI in production environments. * Familiarity with data pipelines (**Airbyte, dbt, or custom pipelines**).
