DESCRIPTION **Main Responsibilities:** * **Diagnosis and Repair:** * Perform accurate diagnosis of mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in diesel-powered freight units. * Repair and replace defective components such as brake systems, suspension, transmission, and engine parts. * Troubleshoot starting, performance, and fuel consumption issues to improve vehicle efficiency. * **Preventive Maintenance:** * Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on trucks and cargo vehicles. * Change oil, filters, and fluids according to the manufacturer's established maintenance schedule. * Adjust and lubricate key components to extend the lifespan of the engine and other systems. * **Specific System Repairs:** * Diagnose and repair specific systems in freight units, such as cooling systems, exhaust systems, and emission control systems. * Make adjustments to fuel injection systems to enhance diesel engine performance and efficiency. * Repair and calibrate electronic control systems and anti-lock braking systems (ABS) as needed. * **Regulatory Compliance:** * Comply with local and national regulations related to the maintenance and repair of cargo vehicles. * Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used for auditing and tracking purposes. * Follow safety procedures and safe work practices when handling equipment and tools.
