**WORK SUMMARY:**
The Controls Engineer is responsible for ensuring the operation and maintenance of PLC control and automation systems, implementing improvements to enhance the performance of machinery used for assembling Tire–Rim modules at the highest quality level.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Development and modification of PLC programs in programming languages such as: Siemens TIA PORTAL V18, Allen Bradley Studio 5000\.
* Configuration of Siemens and Allen Bradley networks (Profibus, Interbus, Ethernet, Modbus TCP/IP).
* Development and programming of Mitsubishi MRJ\-4\ drives.
* Development and programming of Arduino or microcontrollers.
* Programming and modification of FANUC RJ2\ robot routines.
* Programming, modification, and backup of vision systems from IFM, KEYENCE, and COGNEX.
* Preparation and/or review of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control drawings for equipment procurement; collaboration with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
* Participation in PFMEA analysis and serving as knowledge leader for lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement projects.
* Acting as liaison with external equipment suppliers to understand functionality, capabilities, and/or interconnection requirements.
* Proposing equipment improvements to optimize processes and machinery while meeting established requirements, and participating in implementation of proposed improvements—considering electrical, environmental, financial, and legal aspects/risks.
* Administration of e\-maint software, ensuring tasks, preventive maintenance (PM), and reports remain up to date.
* Design and implementation of poka\-yoke (error\-proofing) systems to prevent failures/errors in plant systems and scrap generation on production lines.
* Maintaining vision systems in good working condition and performing daily functional verifications.
* Troubleshooting control and automation issues, electrical faults, and documenting them per Android Industries’ operating system requirements.
* Supervising proper operation of automatic process control systems to detect faults and modify programming code for resolution.
* Performing and supporting preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on production lines.
* Supporting root cause analysis, solution development, and implementation of actions resulting from Top 5\ PDCA cycles.
* Performing backups (backups) of PLC programs and software to keep them updated monthly on the Toluca server and Dog version platform.
* Collaborating with Quality and Engineering departments to track engineering changes, create new production line combos, and manage the Bass system.
* Supervision and maintenance of the Bass system.
* Serving as liaison with local IT team for hardware troubleshooting and monitoring.
* Ensuring MSA equipment remains annually certified per annual planning.
* Conducting vision system attribute tests in the OMNEX system.
* Proposing improvements.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
**1\. Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Control and Automation Engineering or Mechatronics.
2\. 2–3 years of experience in a similar role.
* Proficiency in Studio 5000, TIA Portal V18 (mandatory), WinCC, Cognex In\-Sight, KUKA, FANUC, ABB, and Mitsubishi.
* Drive and Mitsubishi/Keb servo motor programming.
* Extensive experience in PLC programming and automation, including development and commissioning of PLC equipment.
* TRAVEL:
Willingness to travel up to 50%.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:**
* Practical knowledge of automated assembly systems, fundamental theory of industrial control system applications, design and operations—including power distribution concepts.
* Technical proficiency with computer and control systems; programming and troubleshooting of machine controls (Siemens\-Step 7; Allen Bradley\-Ladder Logic).
* Ability to diagnose problems in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interacting with electrical and electronic systems.
* Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining focus on critical details and deadlines.
* Expertise in root cause–based problem solving.
* Practical knowledge of AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
* Ability to learn new technologies.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver training and effectively interact and collaborate with leadership, peers, suppliers, and plant team members.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Interbus, DeviceNet, RSView, ControLogix, Siemens, and Arduino.
