From new formulations to packaging design and claims, R\&D plays a critical role in bringing our brands to market with innovation, safety, and sustainability. **PURPOSE OF THE ROLE** ---------------------------- Ensure the **timely and accurate delivery and execution of innovations, renovations, and formula or packaging changes**. This role serves as the technical bridge between manufacturing plants, supply chain, marketing, and regulatory functions, ensuring every development meets performance, safety, quality standards, and approved claims. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** --------------------------------- ### **1\. Innovation and Product Development** * Execute the technical development of **Skin Cleansing and Deodorants** projects from concept creation through to launch. * Coordinate and document **plant trials**, pilot tests, and validations prior to launch. * Evaluate technical results and propose formula or process adjustments when necessary. * Ensure correct specifications for **formula, ingredients, process, and performance**. ### **2\. Specification and Packaging Management** * Create, update, and approve **formula and packaging specifications** in internal systems. * Verify formula–packaging compatibility and ensure all changes are validated. * Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Material Suppliers to resolve technical deviations. ### **3\. Claims and Regulatory Management** * Assess whether proposed **claims** are technically and scientifically substantiated. * Present claims for discussion with the **Regulatory** team and return validated feedback to Marketing. * Serve as the **technical intermediary** across teams: conveying R\&D’s perspective to Marketing and Regulatory inputs to the project. ### **4\. Project Execution** * Ensure all assigned projects are delivered **on time / in full**, meeting R\&D stage gates and milestones. * Coordinate activities with manufacturing plants, supply chain, QA, Procurement, Regulatory, and Marketing. * Resolve technical issues during development and industrialization. ### **5\. Technical Validation and Blue Artwork** * Review and approve **BLUE artwork**, verifying correctness of claims, ingredients, regulations, and technical text. * Confirm final packaging accurately reflects what was approved by R\&D and Regulatory. ### **6\. Plant Support and Troubleshooting** * Provide real-time support for production runs, scale-up, adjustments, and validations. * Ensure any technical change is properly documented and implemented. * Support Supply and Manufacturing in investigations when product quality fails to meet specifications. **WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED** --------------------------------------- ### **Required Education** * Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or related fields. ### **Technical Skills** * Knowledge of formulation, stability, compatibility, and scale-up. * Experience with pilot testing and plant trials. * Proficiency in managing technical specifications (formula/packaging). * Understanding of regulatory requirements and claims substantiation. ### **Soft Skills** * Strong cross-functional coordination ability (Marketing, Supply, Plants, QA, Regulatory). * Attention to detail and technical rigor. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Organization, prioritization, and multi-project management capabilities. ### **Language** * **Advanced English (mandatory)** Unilever is an organisation committed to equity, inclusion and diversity to drive our business results and create a better future, every day, for our diverse employees, global consumers, partners, and communities.
