Reporting to the Program Director, the Psychologist is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to recently returned Mexican children and young adults, as well as youth (ages 14–24) of any nationality with recognized refugee status, including individual, group, and family therapy. Administers assessments and coordinates services to ensure high-quality clinical services at beneficiaries’ places of residence. Global Refuge, formally known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS), is a nonprofit organization serving those seeking safety, support, and participation in the American dream. Since 1939, we have welcomed those seeking refuge, upholding a legacy of compassion and grace for people in crisis. Our work also extends to Guatemala and Mexico, where we offer training and community reintegration for returned youth. To date, we have served more than 800,000 people worldwide. Our comprehensive services draw upon our extensive organizational experience, as well as partnerships with governmental, community, and faith-based entities. **Responsibilities / Duties:** * Provide direct therapeutic services to program participants as needed, including group work and family therapy. * Administer required mental and behavioral health assessments for program participants. * Coordinate services for each participant jointly with the Social Worker. * Participate in case consultations and provide clinical feedback regarding beneficiaries’ treatment needs. * Assist, facilitate, and help deliver ongoing education and support services to beneficiaries’ families. * Provide crisis intervention and guidance to beneficiaries and their families on healthy parenting practices, resilience, and conflict resolution skills. * Develop and deliver trainings/workshops for both family groups and sector colleagues, per respective partner requests. * Comply with laws and regulations regarding confidentiality of beneficiary information. * Apply knowledge of best practices in child welfare to protect all beneficiaries and mitigate risk factors when possible. * Maintain up-to-date documentation of all clinical activities per internal program policies. * Maintain current, practical knowledge of international child protection policies and operational procedures. * Meet regularly with the Program Director to consult on cases, review case plan decisions, and assess program participant progress. * Attend meetings with program alliances and/or partners, as well as establish new relationships with relevant sector actors. * Perform other duties as assigned. **Education / Experience** * Bachelor’s degree in General, Clinical, or Educational Psychology. * Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Family Psychotherapy, or related field (preferred). * Demonstrated experience delivering clinical services to refugee and/or immigrant populations (preferred). * Knowledge and demonstrated experience working with returned/refugee populations and unaccompanied minors. * Knowledge of national legislation on Human Rights, the General Law on the Rights of Children, Girls, and Adolescents, the Migration Code, among others. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong interpersonal communication and clinical/persuasive writing skills. * Excellent clinical and crisis intervention skills. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work under stress or in fast-paced and/or volatile environments, including crisis or high-risk situations. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Ability to work effectively in teams. * Capacity to practice cultural sensitivity and work effectively with diverse and vulnerable populations. * Awareness of legal and policy issues related to immigration and child welfare. * Commitment to Global Refuge’s mission and core values, and ability to model those values in interactions with colleagues and partners. * Commitment to empowering returned/refugee populations and unaccompanied minors. * Flexibility regarding work hours and responsibilities. * Adequate computer skills to perform essential functions (Microsoft Office and any internal case management software). **Special Position Requirements:** * Availability to travel within Mexico up to 80% of the time. * Must be willing and able to undergo criminal background and civil litigation checks. * Native Spanish speaker.
