For more information, please visit solera.com. The Role As a Database Performance Engineer, you will be instrumental in enhancing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of our database systems. Your responsibilities will include code refactoring, optimization, and thorough analysis of execution plans. You will identify and troubleshoot wait times, analyze buffer pool stability, and detect patterns in performance regression. Your collaborative work with engineering teams will involve taking ownership of initiatives to implement improvements. Additionally, you will conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to our company’s database coding and design standards. Your customer\-centric attitude and adaptability will be essential in delivering high\-quality solutions that meet our clients' needs. What You'll Do: * Work closely with architecture, product and engineering teams to conduct code reviews, refactoring and optimizations to enhance database performance and maintainability. * Ensure organizational coding standards and database design standards are adhered to, promoting best practices within the team. * Collaborate with QA for load testing to warrantee performance improvements with each release. * Analyze execution plans to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements that enhance query performance. * Measure query performance based on query metrics, database and server level metrics to explain the impact of query plans over time. * Document each achievement with performance metric comparisons of before vs after state to show improvement for TSQL coding done. * Take ownership of initiatives and work with Dev, QA, CAB and release engineers to ensure code enhancements are deployed to production. * Work closely with customer support to maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction by understanding their requirements and delivering solutions that enhance their experience with our products. * Continuous evaluation and implementation of proactive measures to improve performance and stability of MSSQL workloads * Detect and troubleshoot wait times, addressing issues that impact database responsiveness. * Assess the buffer pool for plan cache stability and reliability, ensuring optimal resource allocation and performance. * Identify patterns in performance regression to proactively address potential issues before they affect users. * Participate in POCs assigned for R\&D, sharing knowledge with junior database engineers and team members. * Collaborate with other teams in enterprise level projects and provide support / guidance as needed. What You'll Bring: * Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or related experience. * Experience: 5\+ years of experience in database performance engineering, database administration, database development, or a similar role. * Technical Expertise: Strong expertise in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL). * Performance Tuning Skills: Proficient in performance tuning, query optimization, and database design principles. * Monitoring Tools Proficiency: Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools (e.g., DataDog, NewRelic, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch). * Cloud Database Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL VM) is a plus. * Problem\-Solving Skills: Excellent problem\-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a remote environment. * Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross\-functional teams. * Customer\-Centric Mindset: A strong focus on customer satisfaction with a passion for delivering high\-quality solutions. * Adaptability: Capacity to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, adapting strategies and methodologies in response to changing business needs. * Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior database engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
