We are seeking a **Backend Software Engineer** with 3–8\+ years of experience to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs. The ideal candidate has strong backend development expertise using **Kotlin or Python, with working knowledge of Go**, and thrives in a collaborative, fast\-paced environment while working Eastern Time hours*.* ***What You Will Do:*** * Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs to support web and platform applications * Build and optimize server\-side logic, data storage solutions, and integrations with third\-party services * Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps to deliver high\-quality features * Write clean, maintainable, and well\-documented code following best practices and coding standards * Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend performance, reliability, and security issues * Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision\-making * Ensure backend systems are performant, secure, and scalable to support business growth * Work within an Agile/Scrum environment and contribute to sprint planning and estimations ***Your knowledge, skills, and abilities:*** * 3–8\+ years of professional experience in backend web development * Strong proficiency in **Kotlin or Python**, with working knowledge of **Go** * Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs (or GraphQL) * Solid understanding of backend architecture, microservices, and distributed systems * Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases * Familiarity with cloud\-based environments and modern deployment practices * Strong problem\-solving skills and the ability to work independently * Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams Availability to work **Eastern Time working hours** * **Only Resumes in English will be considered** ***Why VEscapeLabs?*** We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for our team.
