




**Position Summary:** The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of mother units and trailers, ensuring their optimal performance and operational availability. Works closely with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure repairs are carried out according to technical, safety, and time standards. This role is essential in preventing failures, extending equipment lifespan, and contributing to fleet operational efficiency. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mother units, tractor-trailers, and trailers. * Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in diesel engines. * Conduct routine inspections on brakes, suspension, cooling systems, transmission, steering, and air systems. * Document performed services, parts used, and detected findings in logs. * Assist in managing spare parts and materials required for each intervention. * Conduct operational tests after repairs to verify equipment functionality. * Comply with industrial safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. * Collaborate with other technicians and operational staff to ensure efficient workflow of units within the workshop. **Reports directly to:** Maintenance Coordinator **Requirements:** a) Education and/or Experience: • Completed high school or completed technical degree; preferably trained as a Diesel Mechanical Technician or related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic in transportation fleets. Specific experience with mother units, tractor-trailers, and trailers (MANDATORY). b) Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): • Diagnosis and repair of diesel engines. • Suspension systems, air brakes, transmission, and hydraulic steering. • Basic automotive electricity and interpretation of diagrams. • Use of manual, pneumatic tools, and diagnostic scanners. • Reading maintenance logs and technical forms. • Safety regulations and workshop operations standards. **Skills:** • Accurate diagnosis of mechanical faults. • Organization and adherence to procedures. • Teamwork. • Responsibility and punctuality. • Compliance with safety regulations. • Ability to work under pressure and in operational environments.
