Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **Job Purpose** To independently perform staff level accounting functions that deal with financial issues to support business processes and provide further experience with Caterpillar accounting practices. **JOB DUTIES:** From the outset, the Accountant will be expected to be a contributing performer, performing financial accounting work that supports business processes. Additionally, this position will develop an expanded understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures, apply accounting knowledge, and participate on teams. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for calculating third\-party representative sales commissions and will review clerical input, generate reports and provide related commentary. The Accountant will review and validate relevant data and data sources, analyze information and submit output to Sales Managers and Managing Directors for approval. Incumbent works on challenging, low to medium risk issues and makes decisions and recommendations as appropriate. Work will be directed by a Team Lead, through review of progress and results. The Accountant will demonstrate knowledge and ability to independently handle accounting issues. They will demonstrate good communication skills and have an expanded knowledge of Caterpillar’s businesses, products, suppliers and customers. Interacts with multiple functional areas and levels of authority. **BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:** Requires a 4\-year degree, preferably in accounting.
