We are seeking a Buyer A for our Planning and Procurement Department located in Tijuana, B.C.
***Position Objective:***
Ensure strategic sourcing of materials, products, and services required for Sohnen’s production operations.
***Responsibilities:***
* Execute and manage purchase orders for direct (production) and indirect (MRO) materials from requisition through receipt.
* Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts with domestic and international suppliers.
* Prepare quotation comparisons and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making.
* Monitor and control inventory levels to prevent stockouts, overstocks, and obsolescence.
* Evaluate supplier performance using scorecards (On-Time In-Full, quality, cost, service level).
* Develop alternate suppliers to minimize supply chain risks.
* Maintain up-to-date data in the ERP system (orders, lead times, costs, invoicing).
* Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Finance to ensure operational continuity.
* Generate reports on cost savings, supplier performance, inventory, and critical purchases.
* Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
***What We Are Looking For:***
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, International Trade, or related field.
* 3–5 years of experience in direct and indirect procurement, materials planning, or supply chain within manufacturing or maquiladora environments.
* Proficiency in ERP systems (LN, SAP, Oracle or similar) and advanced Excel.
* Intermediate-to-advanced English: you will read contracts, write emails, and negotiate with U.S. suppliers.
* Knowledge of Incoterms, MRO, supply chain KPIs (OTIF, Days of Inventory Held, inventory turnover), and preferably the IMMEX program.
* Analytical mindset, strong negotiation skills, sense of urgency, and high results orientation.
***Bonus Points If You Have:***
* APICS / CPIM certification.
* Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
* Prior experience in international procurement or managing U.S. suppliers.
* Knowledge of reverse logistics or the consumer electronics industry.
