This role is ideal for individuals who want to understand **how information flows within complex organizations**, and evolve toward advanced roles in event architecture and data platforms. ### **What You’ll Do in This Role** * Participate in the implementation and configuration of **event-based data streams**. * Support the creation and management of **Kafka topics** and messaging structures. * Collaborate on system integration using **producers and consumers**. * Monitor information flows and identify failures or inconsistencies. * Work closely with **backend, data, and integration teams**. * Support testing, debugging, and validation of data flows. * Document event processes and architectures. * Clearly explain how implemented flows operate. ### **✅** **Profile We’re Seeking** We seek **recent graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of experience**, possessing: * Strong **analytical ability**. * Genuine interest in **distributed systems**. * Curiosity about understanding **how multiple systems interconnect**. * Enthusiasm for solving complex, non-trivial problems. ### **️** **Required Technical Knowledge** **Foundations (Mandatory):** * Object-oriented programming. * Data structures. * Programming logic and problem-solving. * Basic concepts of concurrency. * Understanding of information flow. **Foundations of Distributed Systems (Highly Important):** * Asynchronous processing. * Difference between synchronous and asynchronous communication. * Basic queue or messaging handling. * General understanding of information flow between systems. **Desirable (Not Required):** * Basic knowledge of **Apache Kafka**. * Academic experience with messaging (e.g., RabbitMQ or others). * Familiarity with **Java or other backend languages**. * Basic concepts of event processing. * Awareness of system monitoring. ### **Key Skills (Critical for This Role)** * Systems thinking (seeing the whole, not just one part). * Ability to understand complex information flows. * Attention to detail. * Abstraction capability. * Deep technical curiosity. * Patience to understand complex systems. ### **Academic Requirements** Relevant degrees include: * Computer Science * Software Engineering * Systems Engineering * Applied Mathematics * Physics ### **Language** * **Intermediate–Advanced English** (reading documentation and collaborating with international teams). * **Differentiators** * Academic projects in: + distributed systems + data processing + concurrency * Participation in **hackathons or technical challenges**. * Repositories on **GitHub** with well-structured logic. * Interest in data architecture or streaming. ### **Development Plan** You will join a **technical mentorship program**, where you can: * Learn real-world **Kafka** implementation. * Understand **event-driven** architectures. * Participate in critical data flows. * Evolve into roles such as: + **Kafka Specialist** + **Event-Driven Architect** + **Data Platform Engineer** *At Scotiabank, we value the unique skills and experiences each person brings to the bank and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for all.
