Laboratory Assistant (Microbiology)

Description

Job Summary: Supports microbiology laboratory activities, inventory management, and logbook maintenance to ensure order and proper functioning of the area. Key Responsibilities: 1. Assistance in microbiology laboratory and sterilization of media. 2. Inventory management, receipt of supplies, and preparation of reports. 3. Maintenance of logbooks and environmental monitoring of the laboratory. Assist in activities of the microbiology laboratory area. Washing of materials, sterilization of culture media. Check warehouse inventories and maintain order therein. Receive supplies and reagents to register them as ADDED in the warehouse inventory. Prepare inventory reports for warehouse, solutions, materials, accessories, and spare parts. Review and maintain logbooks in order. Handle data loggers and recorders. Maintain records in assigned logbooks. Verify functionality of the eyewash\-shower station. Report any anomalies in facilities, equipment, or other items to the immediate supervisor. Prepare sanitizing solutions. Conduct sanitizing effectiveness tests. Assist in sample, solution, and/or standard preparation tasks for which training has been provided. Perform environmental monitoring of the laboratory, carrying out trend analyses. Assist in preparation and sterilization of materials. Cleaning of laboratory materials.
