Judgment to detect flaws in presentation, flavor, cooking, or hygiene before dishes leave the kitchen. Attention to portion sizes and quality standards. Agility to make quick decisions in unexpected situations (staff shortages, ingredient shortages, equipment failures). Focus on practical and effective solutions without compromising service. Ability to give clear instructions to both cooks and other departments (dining room, storage, administration). Skill to explain processes, train staff, and convey quality standards. Efficient performance during peak demand periods without losing control or quality. Ability to remain calm in the kitchen, conveying confidence to the team. Aptitude to create new dishes, adjust recipes, or adapt to different cooking styles. Innovation in food preparation, plating, and presentation.
