That’s why we recruit outstanding minds from all backgrounds.** The Material Flow Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing material flows within the manufacturing plant — from raw material receipt to finished product shipment. Their primary objective is to ensure timely material availability at the point of use, minimize inventories, reduce internal logistics costs, and improve overall internal supply chain efficiency by applying Lean Manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies. **Key Responsibilities:** * **Flow Design and Optimization:** + Design and optimize internal material flows (inbound, in\-plant, and outbound) to ensure efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste. + Develop and maintain warehouse layouts, production area layouts, and internal transportation routes. + Implement and improve line replenishment systems (e.g., Kanban, Milk Run, Kiteo, etc.). * **Analysis and Continuous Improvement:** + Analyze current material handling processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs. + Use simulation tools and data analytics to evaluate various material flow scenarios. + Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects, new product introductions, launches, or warehouse start\-ups. * **Inventory Management:** + Collaborate with Production Planning and Procurement teams to optimize inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) and ensure uninterrupted availability. + Develop strategies for inventory reduction and storage space optimization. * **Equipment Selection and Specification:** + Research, evaluate, and recommend material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, AGVs, shelving, conveyors) to improve efficiency and ergonomics. + Collaborate with suppliers for procurement and implementation of new technologies. * **Cross\-Functional Collaboration:** + Work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams to align material flow plans with operational and strategic objectives. + Provide technical support and training on new material flow processes and systems. * **Documentation and Standards:** + Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and specifications for material handling and storage. + Ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations across all material flow operations. * **Data Analysis and Reporting:** + Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material flow, such as inventory turnover, storage space utilization, material handling costs, and inventory accuracy. **What do you need to succeed in this role?** * Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Process Engineering, or related field. * Minimum 6 months/1 year of experience in similar roles (material flow planning, logistics, process engineering, continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment). * Implementation of Lean principles (Kanban, JIT, 5S, VSM). * Intermediate English. * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Supply Chain Management (certifications are a plus). * Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and/or WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). * Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau). * Ability to design and analyze layouts (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio, or simulation software). * Familiarity with various material handling equipment and technologies. * Knowledge of project management methodologies. * Critical thinking. * Results orientation. * Analytical ability. * Teamwork. **Equal Employment Opportunity Statement** Siemens is an equal opportunity employer and affirmative action employer that encourages diversity in the workplace.
