Participation in special outreach events and community work **Position Profile – Optometrist** **Position:** Optometrist **Reports to:** Operations Manager **Supervises:** N/A **Position Objective** Provide high-quality optometric care to users through visual assessment, detection of abnormalities, and timely referral of special cases, ensuring humane, ethical service aligned with program protocols. **Main Responsibilities** * Perform professional visual acuity assessment (optometry) for up to six (6) diopters. * Conduct the full visual examination procedure. * Perform retinoscopy to determine required refraction. * Issue the final prescription for the beneficiary. * Support **special outreach events**, community activities, or temporary reassignment to other CABs and/or Mobile Units as required. * Counsel beneficiaries regarding detected visual problems and, if necessary, recommend corrective lenses. * Accurately record results in the designated form or system. * Maintain courteous, professional, and respectful conduct at all times. **Primary Responsibilities and Activities** * Adhere to the Project Obregonense service protocols. * Ensure correct application of optometric procedures. * Submit reports or records accurately and on time. * Maintain order and cleanliness in the service area. * Safeguard beneficiaries’ well-being. **Position Requirements** **Academic Qualifications (Mandatory)** · Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry (degree certificate and professional license) · Optometry Technician **Work Tools** * Phoropter / Lensmeter (as available per unit) * Visual acuity charts and visual assessment materials * Handheld lamp or magnifier (if applicable) * Registration forms, logs, and internal forms * Work desk and basic clinic equipment * Personal protective equipment and biosafety supplies **Competencies** * Friendly, service-oriented demeanor * Patience and sensitivity toward vulnerable populations * Clear communication skills * Responsibility and organizational skills * Teamwork * Adaptability (especially during rotations or outreach events) **Desirable Experience** * Prior experience in optometric care (minimum 6 months) * Preferably in community programs or social services (not mandatory) Employment Type: Full-time Salary: $14,000.00 per month Work Location: On-site employment
