Description

**About Us** **EDDY Pump** designs and manufactures heavy‑duty slurry pumps, dredge systems, and industrial equipment used in mining, wastewater, marine construction, oil \& gas, and defense. **EZ Connect Floats** designs modular pipe/hose/cable floats and accessories for marine and industrial applications. Together, we build rugged, field‑proven gear for customers around the world. We are expanding our **Tijuana engineering center** and hiring a **Mechanical Design Engineer** who can take products from concept to production—across both polymer float products (rotomolded) and metal/mechatronic assemblies (pumps, power units, attachments). **What You’ll Do** * Own full‑cycle design: concept, 3D modeling, detailed drawings, GD\&T, tolerances, BOMs, and ECN release through PDM/ERP. * Design for manufacturing (DFM/DFA) across **rotational molding** (HDPE), weldments, machined parts, castings, and sheet metal. * Develop new EZ Connect float families (housings, inserts, hardware, latching/connection systems) with a focus on buoyancy, stability, UV/weatherability, and field serviceability. * Contribute to EDDY Pump engineered systems (pump housings/rotors/liners, skids/frames, guarding, hydraulic/electric integrations) with attention to solids handling, abrasion resistance, and maintainability. * Run basic engineering analyses (hand calcs for stress/deflection, buoyancy and stability, thermal effects, torque/bolt preload). Set up and interpret vendor/FEA/CFD studies when needed. * Create assembly and installation instructions, exploded views, and field service documentation. * Collaborate daily with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to resolve issues quickly and drive PPAP/FAI and first‑article approvals. * Conduct prototype builds and field fit‑ups; support testing in water tanks/fixtures and at customer sites when required. * Work with regional and international suppliers (MX/US/India/China) on tooling, tolerances, finishes, and cost reductions. * Maintain rigorous revision control and drawing standards; champion continuous improvement of design templates and libraries. **What You’ll Bring** * **B.S. in Mechanical Engineering** (or similar). * **3–7\+ years** in mechanical product design for industrial equipment and/or polymer products (rotational molding strongly preferred; injection/blow molding a plus). * Expert in **SolidWorks** (parts, assemblies, drawings, weldments, sheet metal); experience with PDM/Vault. * Strong GD\&T per ASME Y14\.5; ability to stack‑up tolerances and design robust datum schemes. * Practical understanding of materials and coatings: **HDPE/UV stabilizers/foams**, stainless \& high‑chrome alloys, abrasion‑resistant steels, elastomers, and fasteners. * Comfortable reading pump curves/system curves; familiarity with NPSH/TDH concepts is a plus. * Hands‑on mindset: comfortable on the shop floor measuring parts, building prototypes, and working with technicians. * **Bilingual Spanish/English** (written and spoken) required; clear technical communication and drawings in English. **Nice to Have** * Experience with **rotomold tooling** (parting lines, draft, ribs, inserts, spin‑weld bosses, foam fill). * Design of IP‑rated enclosures, guards, lifting points, and transport cradles. * Vendor management and cost‑out projects; VA/VE methods. * Basic electrical/hydraulic packaging and routing (looming, clamps, hose/pipe supports). * Familiarity with ISO 9001, CE/OSHA marking, risk assessment, and DFMEA/PFMEA. **Success Metrics (First 12 Months)** * Release of **2\+ new EZ Connect float SKUs** from concept to production with successful PPAP/first‑article. * **\>95% drawing right‑first‑time** (no major ECO rework after release). * **Lead‑time reduction** via DFM changes (target ≥10% cost or ≥20% assembly time improvement on at least one product line). * On‑time support for two EDDY Pump product updates (e.g., skid frame, housing/liner package, or attachment redesign). **Tools \& Systems** * SolidWorks \+ PDM, Microsoft/Google productivity tools, ERP (Epicor or similar), basic FEA/CFD via partners or internal tools as needed. **Work Environment** * On‑site role in **Tijuana**, collaborating closely with production, quality, and supply chain. * Occasional travel to our U.S. facilities (San Diego/Houston) and supplier sites. **Compensation \& Benefits** * Competitive salary based on experience. * Legal benefits (IMSS/INFONAVIT), paid time off, and performance bonus eligibility. * Training, certification support, and clear growth paths into Senior Engineer or Project Engineer roles. Job Type: Full\-time Pay: $40,000\.00 \- $60,000\.00 per month Work Location: In person
