Turn financial data into operational clarity and identify risks We are hiring a **Finance Operations Manager** to own the operational backbone of our finance function. This is a hands\-on, analytical role responsible for budget tracking, expense management, forecasting, and owning the company’s AP and AR operations, while partnering closely with project leadership and the CFO. You will be the connective tissue between day\-to\-day financial activity and executive\-level financial planning. This role reports to the CFO and plays a critical role in building financial discipline across a fast\-growing, project\-based consulting business. As Obsidian scales its project\-based consulting business, we need a dedicated owner to ensure forecasts are accurate, cash flow is predictable, and financial discipline scales with growth. This role exists to turn financial data into operational clarity and proactively identify risks. ### **Cash Operations Ownership (AP \& AR)** * Own end\-to\-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely, accurate, and predictable cash inflows and outflows * Execute and oversee vendor payments, invoice review, and AP workflows directly * Own client invoicing, billing schedules, collections follow\-ups, and AR aging * Resolve vendor and client billing discrepancies and proactively flag cash\-flow risks ### **Expense \& Cost Control** * Own expense tracking across teams and projects * Ensure expenses are coded correctly to projects, departments, and clients * Identify cost overruns, anomalies, and savings opportunities * Partner with sales, marketing, engineering, and leadership to keep projects financially healthy ### **Budgeting \& Forecasting** * Maintain and update company\-wide and project\-level budgets * Track actuals vs. forecast and identify variances early * Build and maintain rolling forecasts (monthly/quarterly) * Support scenario modeling for hiring, revenue, and margin planning ### **Project \& Client Financials** * Track project burn, margin, and utilization * Partner with delivery and sales leadership on project profitability * Provide financial insights on large enterprise clients and long\-term engagements ### **Reporting \& Finance Operations** * Produce weekly and monthly financial reports for leadership * Coordinate with the Controller (Asia Pacific) to ensure timely handoff of AP/AR activity and support month\-end close and reconciliations * Improve processes, tools, and controls as the company scales * Support the CFO with board, investor, and executive reporting ### **What We’re Looking For** **Experience** * 4 to 7 years of experience in finance operations, FP\&A, or accounting, ideally in a consulting or fintech environment * Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and expense management in a project\-based business * Experience working with remote or globally distributed accounting teams * Exposure to project\-based or consulting revenue models is strongly preferred ### **Skills** * Strong Excel / Google Sheets and financial modeling skills * Comfortable working with accounting and expense systems (e.g., QuickBooks) * Comfortable owning transactional finance workflows (AP/AR) alongside analysis and reporting * High attention to detail with strong analytical thinking * Ability to translate messy, real\-world data into clear, actionable financial insight ### **Mindset** * Highly organized, reliable, and process\-driven * Comfortable operating in a fast\-moving, founder\-led environment * Low\-ego, collaborative, and oriented toward supporting the business * Willing to surface issues early and push for clarity Since 2014, Obsidian Systems has built unusually high‐quality software by combining the best ideas from industry and academia.
