Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and efficiency of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems aboard a shrimp-fishing vessel, guaranteeing operational readiness and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operate and maintain the vessel’s mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. 2. Plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment. 3. Supervise and direct engine room personnel and ensure compliance with regulations. Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and efficiency of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems aboard the shrimp-fishing vessel, guaranteeing the vessel’s operational readiness during fishing operations and compliance with maritime and industrial safety regulations. * Operate, supervise, and maintain the vessel’s main and auxiliary engines in optimal condition. * Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on propulsion, refrigeration, hydraulic, electrical, and pumping systems. * Monitor fuel, oil, lubricant, and spare parts consumption, maintaining accurate records in the engine logbook. * Coordinate with the Captain on navigation and fishing maneuvers related to engine power, speed, and safety. * Supervise and direct engine room personnel (engine operators and greasers), ensuring adherence to technical and safety procedures. * Detect, diagnose, and repair failures in critical equipment or systems during operations. * Ensure compliance with regulations issued by the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) and the General Directorate of Merchant Marine. * Participate in vessel inspections and certifications conducted by maritime authorities. * Keep technical documentation for the engine system and maintenance reports up to date. **Bachelor’s degree or professional maritime technical qualification** from a **Merchant Marine Nautical School**, holding a valid **Officer or Chief Engineer license and credential**.
