Project overview: This role is part of a newly formed squad responsible for developing features for the Corporate Portal, a key digital channel that supports business‑critical user journeys. The team focuses on delivering reliable backend services, robust APIs, and data‑enabled functionalities within a cloud‑based, agile environment that follows strong engineering standards. Position overview: We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer (Java) to support the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and APIs. The role involves implementing business logic, working with data‑driven services, and contributing to reliable and scalable systems under the guidance of senior engineers. This position offers excellent exposure to modern backend practices, cloud environments, and collaborative agile teams. * Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services following software engineering best practices. * Build and maintain REST and/or GraphQL APIs with clear contracts and reliable behavior. * Implement server‑side logic to support data ingestion and processing through structured endpoints. * Collaborate closely with Business Experts, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to deliver continuous value. * Write clean, testable, and maintainable code. * Design and execute various types of tests (unit, integration, contract testing) to ensure software quality. * Work with infrastructure and delivery teams to support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes. * Deploy solutions in cloud environments with scalability, security, and resilience in mind. * Monitor application performance and help identify and resolve production issues. * Document technical solutions and actively share knowledge within the team. * Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. * Requirements: Experience developing backend applications using Java. * Knowledge of API design (REST and/or GraphQL) and client–server communication. * Basic understanding of SQL and/or NoSQL databases, including concepts around performance and data integrity. * Familiarity with asynchronous or event‑driven concepts (queues, pub/sub, messaging systems). * Understanding of backend resilience concepts such as error handling, retries, and basic self‑healing patterns. * Experience using Git for version control. * Exposure to cloud environments and containerized deployments (academic or professional). * Experience working in Agile environments. * Fluency in Spanish. * Nice to have: Exposure to messaging platforms such as Kafka or similar. * Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployments. * Experience with monitoring, logging, or observability tools. * Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure). * Good spoken English.
