MSF's work was recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999\. **POSITION OBJECTIVE** * Define, implement and coordinate all mental health\-related activities within the project area; ensuring quality of care, analyzing statistics and reports, managing personnel involved in mental health activities according to MSF protocols, so as to provide patients with the most appropriate support. **RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS** * Identify the need for mental health support among the population covered by the project and participate in establishing MSF's strategy accordingly. * Participate in defining, planning, organizing and updating mental health activities and their budget, in close collaboration with other members of the medical team, to ensure efficient and effective use of necessary resources while maintaining high quality standards in MSF mental health activities. * Ensure implementation of all standard mental health protocols established by MSF and supervise their application by all professionals under their responsibility, so as to provide the most appropriate treatment for patients. * Plan and supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, associated processes (selection, training/orientation, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) for staff under their responsibility, to ensure both the size and level of required knowledge. * Supervise and ensure that all mental health activities with service users (inside and outside health centers) are conducted with regular follow\-up and in accordance with all MSF protocols and guidelines, to provide the most appropriate treatment for patients with psychosocial issues, ensuring that the mental health team remains calm and neutral during sessions regardless of their personal feelings and/or beliefs. * Review and develop technical materials, tools, guidelines and documents created for mental health activities to enhance appropriate patient support. * Regularly map and update existing services, including health services provided by other INGOs, local NGOs, community groups and government entities, etc., and maintain frequent communication and collaboration in line with project objectives and context. * Ensure good communication with other components of the project. * Ensure, in close collaboration with the medical department, that the mental health department participates in psychological counseling activities, prevention of mother\-to\-child transmission (PMTCT), and voluntary counseling and testing (VCT), when needed and according to current applicable protocols. * Monitor and evaluate mental health support activities (define indicators and monitoring tools, collect and analyze information, regularly report on mental health activities, etc.) to obtain reliable data on activities and adapt them accordingly. Participate in monthly reporting as per guidelines (situation report, statistical report, etc.). * Share problematic situations and cases with the FC/PMR/Medical Coordinator to assist in decision\-making and problem solving. * Ensure that psychiatric patients attending MSF facilities receive appropriate treatment, including psychotropic medications and psychosocial support, either within an MSF program or through referral to an appropriate resource. * Identify potential advocacy issues and inform the CM and CP before taking any action. Advocacy is not among the responsibilities of the Mental Health Activities Manager. * Provide regular training and supervision. * Ensure interpreters are trained in terminology and informed about appropriate conduct during sessions. **SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE MSF SECTION / CONTEXT** * Ensure all mental health staff promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all patient cases and records. * Design and supervise, together with GAM/PMR, the data protection and medical data confidentiality system in the field. * Ensure all MSF staff understand the importance of all mental health\-related activities. * Collaborate with the medical component to carry out psychosocial mapping at project level (state, municipal and local) to engage local actors and ensure the defined participation strategy of the project. * Identify potential protection, testimony and/or advocacy issues, and manage decision\-making with hierarchical and functional superiors as appropriate, to ensure the best possible support for the individual or group involved. * Contribute to awareness\-raising and training of various local actors to ensure implementation of the project's mental health strategy. * Patient and staff safety: supervise full compliance with safety and health protocols, reporting risky behaviors to PMR, to ensure safe working conditions for project staff. PROFILE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Education and Training : Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Psychology Experience * Minimum two years of professional experience as a psychologist or similar profession * Professional experience with MSF in international projects in a similar position and/or with other NGOs. * Desirable professional experience in developing countries Languages * Fluency in Spanish is essential; knowledge of English is desirable.
