Full coordination of the editorial production process. **Key Editor Responsibilities** * **Evaluation and Polishing:** Reads manuscripts to enhance coherence, tone, and style, thereby elevating textual value. * **Author\-Reader Mediation:** Acts as the first professional reader, aligning the author’s intent with the consumer’s experience. * **Production Coordination:** Manages the entire process: copyediting, cover design, and formatting. * **Commercial Vision:** Defines target audience and market strategy in large publishing houses, or manages distribution in self-publishing. * **Types of Editing** * **Literary/Commissioning Editor:** Evaluates and selects works. Editorial work is a creative and collaborative process requiring constant dialogue between author and editor. * **Copy Editor/Line Editor:** Reviews quality, grammar, and coherence. * **Author\-Editor:** Develops content and manages their own publication. * **University Degrees:** Philology (Hispanic, English, etc.), Journalism, Communication, Translation and Interpreting, or Literature. * **Professional/Specialized Training:** Publishing Design and Editing, Marketing and Advertising, or Bachelor’s in Letters and Editorial Entrepreneurship. * **Postgraduate/Non-regulated Courses:** Master’s programs in Publishing, courses in orthotypographic and stylistic editing, or training in digital editing.
