Job Summary: Senior PHP Developer responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and integrating applications developed in pure PHP. Will work on existing third-party code—interpreting and extending it—and manage connections and queries to MySQL and SQL Server databases. Key Responsibilities: * Maintain and evolve applications written in native PHP. * Interpret, debug, and modify third-party code to fix bugs and add functionality. * Develop and integrate efficient connectors/queries for MySQL and SQL Server (ODBC/SQLSRV, mysqli, PDO where applicable). * Implement business logic, validations, and backend processes without using frameworks. * Write clear, documented code with basic tests (unit or functional, as feasible). * Collaborate with analysts/product owners to translate requirements into modifications of existing code. * Review and optimize query and batch process performance. Essential Requirements: * Demonstrable experience (minimum 5–7 years) developing in native PHP (no frameworks). * Solid knowledge of connecting to and optimizing MySQL and SQL Server (queries, indexes, stored procedures). * Experience interpreting and working with legacy or third-party code. * Web security best practices: secure input handling, prevention of SQL injection, XSS, CSRF. * Version control (Git) and collaborative workflow. * Ability to document changes and maintain readable code. * Adequate communication skills for teamwork (written and verbal). Desired Skills: * Knowledge of PDO, mysqli, sqlsrv, or ODBC drivers according to environment. * Experience with bash scripting or automation tasks. * Familiarity with LAMP/LEMP environments, deployment, and basic server administration. * Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS for front\-back integrations. * Analytical mindset and problem-solving orientation when working with legacy code.
