We seek someone who understands that feeding children well is also educating, comforting, and accompanying them respectfully. **General Position Description** *Role Purpose:* Ensure every child receives food that is safe, hygienic, age-appropriate in portion size and nutrition, and served with humane and sensitive treatment. *Impact on Children:* An organized kitchen and courteous service sustain a positive atmosphere during daily experiences: reducing tension, preventing conflicts, and protecting children’s health and well-being. **Main Responsibilities** *1) Children's Nutrition* * Prepare daily meals according to pediatric nutritional criteria: low-fat, low-salt, and simple, safe preparations. * Respect portion sizes according to age and institutional guidelines (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers). * Wash, peel, cut, weigh, and measure foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, and other ingredients. * Mix ingredients and prepare authorized side dishes, sauces, or complements. * Propose menu ideas solely for review and prior approval; do not implement changes without validation. *2) Hygiene, Food Safety, and Security* * Maintain strict hygiene standards: wearing hairnets and aprons, frequent handwashing, clean surfaces, and appropriate utensils. * Carry out cleaning and sanitization routines for the kitchen, utensils, and work areas. * Store food properly in pantries, refrigerators, and freezers to prevent cross-contamination. * Check expiration dates and condition of food items; discard completely any spoiled or compromised ingredients. * Keep refrigeration areas clean, organized, and free of decomposing food. *3) Kitchen Operations and Control* * Organize preparation and serving times to ensure meals are ready punctually. * Maintain basic daily inventory control and report shortages in advance. * Support order management and receipt of supplies. * Coordinate and supervise the kitchen team, when applicable, ensuring order and cleanliness. *4) Culture of Interaction (with children and team)* * Communicate with children using a warm, respectful, and patient tone. * Avoid rigid, humiliating, or confrontational expressions during mealtimes. * Demonstrate sensitivity to children’s emotional cues—such as anxiety, resistance to trying new foods, or fear. * Model appropriate and respectful language, speaking clearly and without abruptness. * Collaborate respectfully with the educational and operational teams. **Requirements** **Minimum Education:** Preferably completed secondary or high school education. Technical training, cooking courses, or food hygiene certifications are valuable. **Desired Experience:** Minimum 2 years in kitchen work, ideally in schools, cafeterias, daycare centers, hospitals, or services adhering to hygiene standards. **Key Knowledge:** * Food hygiene and safety. * Preparation of healthy, home-style meals adaptable to children. * Kitchen organization: timing, order, portioning, and supply control. **Personal Skills:** * High responsibility and reliability. * Respectful demeanor, careful language, and service-oriented attitude. * Patience, self-control, and ability to work collaboratively. * Openness to learning and continuous improvement within institutional guidelines. **Position Conditions:** **Location:** KINDEA, Calle San Juan de Dios #451, Col.
