Opportunity to propose newsworthy topics and adapt content to various platforms. **Application for the position: REPORTER** **Department:** Writing **Position:** Reporter **Reports to:** Editor / Head of News **Position Objective:** To produce accurate, timely, and publicly relevant journalistic content through research, coverage, and writing for publication across the organization’s various media channels. **Duties and Responsibilities** * Research, develop, and follow up on news items, feature stories, chronicles, and interviews. * Propose newsworthy topics aligned with the editorial agenda. * Cover events, conferences, press conferences, official ceremonies, and newsworthy incidents. * Conduct in-person, telephone, or virtual interviews with information sources. * Verify facts, figures, and statements to ensure accuracy of information. * Write clear, precise, and information-focused journalistic texts. * Adapt content for different platforms: web, social media, newsletters, and/or print. * Draft headlines, summaries, and descriptive subheads when required. * Take supporting photographs and/or basic video as coverage demands. * Maintain ongoing contact with information sources and cultivate new ones. * Monitor trends, social media, and official sources to identify news. * Follow up on developing stories and update information accordingly. * Meet deadlines and adhere to editorial guidelines. * Coordinate with editors, photographers, designers, and digital team members. * Cover news shifts when necessary. * Apply ethical and legal standards of journalistic practice. * Manage databases, documents, and archival materials supporting research. * Participate in editorial meetings and content planning sessions. * Revise and refine texts based on editorial feedback. **Requirements** * Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field. * Prior experience covering news (preferred). * Excellent writing and spelling skills. * Strong research and analytical abilities. * Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. * Strong verbal communication and interviewing skills. * Basic knowledge of photography and video (preferred). * Proficiency with digital tools, social media, and information search engines. * Flexible schedule and willingness to travel.
