The person in this role provides strategic support to ensure effective implementation of the program's strategy. Their role will be fundamental in guaranteeing that the team operates efficiently, commitments are tracked timely, and smooth coordination is maintained with strategic partners. **We Are Looking For You** ======================= The Coordinator will play a leadership role in enabling high-impact landscape-level projects by integrating diverse strategies aimed at halting ecosystem degradation and addressing factors threatening its viability and community well-being. They will facilitate collaboration among local actors, strategic and governmental partners to ensure effectiveness in developing complex projects. An essential component is the use of analytical tools supporting the monitoring and evaluation plan for actions across the landscape. They will be responsible for monitoring the impact of landscape strategies and ensuring periodic reporting on goal progress. We are seeking a versatile individual with a willingness to learn, optimism, and excellent interpersonal skills aligned with TNC’s competencies. The position is based in Mérida City. This position reports to the Operational Coordination of Selva Maya and Mesoamerican Reef in Mexico. **Responsibilities and Scope** =============================== * Support the team to align efforts, ensure efficiency, and focus on results. * Implement mechanisms to measure progress, identify areas for improvement, and report results clearly and strategically. * Monitor the progress of landscape strategies, document statistical evidence, and maintain internal monitoring and evaluation systems updated to ensure accuracy in measuring action impacts and contributions to goals. * Contribute to ensuring agreements and actions defined in strategic planning are implemented on time and progress is measured. * Support proposal and report development by maintaining organized information, writing clear and accurate content, defining geospatial analysis needs, analyzing relevant data, synthesizing key findings, and adapting communication to different audience needs. * Facilitate coordination with local actors, promoting synergies and effective collaboration. * Supervise, train, guide, and develop staff, including performance mentoring processes and supporting professional development planning. * Demonstrate supervisory skills and strive for continuous improvement. * Hold themselves and others accountable for performance expectations. * Frequently make decisions independently based on analysis, experience, and context. * Be available and enthusiastic about traveling up to 30% of the time, including visits to communities in southeastern Mexico, Mexico City, and some international trips. Occasionally, these trips may involve remote locations with challenging conditions such as extreme weather or lack of infrastructure. * Use TNC’s Code of Conduct and competencies as a foundation for guiding actions and serving as an example for others. **Essential Requirements** ========================= * Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience as a leader in conservation and sustainable development, or a combination of graduate studies and experience. * Experience designing and implementing complex environmental projects with tangible results, emphasizing community-led conservation initiatives, community enterprises, sustainable forest management, regenerative agriculture, natural climate solutions, coastal resilience, among others. * Experience in measuring and evaluating indicators. * Knowledge of the political and social context of the environmental and conservation agenda in Mexico, especially in Selva Maya and the Mesoamerican Reef. * Fluency in Spanish and English, both verbal and written. * Experience communicating and presenting to diverse audiences, including communities, partners, donors, representatives from other sectors, and team members. * Demonstrate teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently with little or limited supervision. **Desirable but Not Essential Qualifications** ==================================================== * Experience collaborating with environmental sectors, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and public authorities. * Experience working with government agencies, local and indigenous communities to conserve and protect natural ecosystems, create sustainable landscapes, and develop and implement conservation strategies. * Practical experience applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for territorial planning and monitoring. * Multicultural or intercultural experience is valued. * Experience working with minorities or marginalized populations. * Experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams. ### **Salary Information:** Job Family: Conservation Internal Job Code: 450005 Salary Grade: 6 ### **Who We Are** **:** The Nature Conservancy’s mission is to protect the lands and waters upon which all life depends.
