*This job posting comes from the Talenteca.com job board* **ARQA is seeking a Data Director in Mérida, Yucatán** ----------------------------------------------- **Job Type**: On-site **Location**: Mérida **What will you do daily?** * The Data Director will be responsible for leading the architecture, operation, and evolution of the company’s entire data platform, with deep focus on data engineering, data platform development, and technical quality. * This role must ensure high-availability data flow across all our critical systems—including PMS, CRS, pricing engines, business rules, catalogs, and internal services. * You will work closely with software, product, and infrastructure teams to enable business growth through technology. * You will also ensure information is reliable, secure, scalable, and accessible—driving modern architectures on AWS, robust batch and streaming pipelines, data access via GraphQL and internal APIs, advanced observability practices, standardization, automation, and infrastructure-as-code—all under strict compliance and operational quality standards. **About your responsibilities** * Define and lead the architecture and operation of the data platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability. * Design, build, and operate production-grade batch and streaming pipelines for the business’s critical systems. * Guarantee technical data quality (correctness, consistency, performance, and operational continuity) across data flows. * Enable efficient data consumption via internal APIs and GraphQL, in close collaboration with software and product teams. * Elevate the engineering maturity of the data stack by driving automation, observability, standardization, and infrastructure-as-code. **What are we looking for in you?** * 12+ years of experience in data, with a track record of leading data engineering or data platform teams or functions. * Experience designing and operating large-scale data platforms in cloud environments, with emphasis on availability, scalability, and reliability. * Strong fundamentals in data engineering, including production-grade batch and streaming pipeline design. * Experience with modern data architectures (e.g., lakehouse approaches, distributed processing, and high-volume systems). * Deep expertise in data modeling, performance optimization, versioning, and information lifecycle management. * Strong software engineering mindset applied to data: CI/CD, testing, automation, modularity, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience building and operating large-scale data platforms on AWS, mastery of technologies such as Spark, Airflow, Kafka or Kinesis, dbt, lakehouse architectures like Delta or Iceberg, and familiarity with distributed processing platforms. You must possess deep understanding of data modeling, performance optimization, versioning, and information lifecycle management, along with an engineering-oriented mindset encompassing CI/CD, modularity, and testing.
