In this role, you’ll build the infrastructure that powers everything: from product intelligence to financial reporting and in-product self-service analytics. Our customers are clinical professionals in small- and mid-sized private practices, and the data you model will directly help them run more efficient and effective businesses. By enabling accessible insights—from no-show trends to client engagement—you’ll give professionals the tools to make smarter, faster decisions about how they deliver care. Internally, your work will power everything—from executive reporting and revenue forecasting to product analytics and AI evaluation cycles. You’ll collaborate with Data Analytics, ML, Product, and Engineering teams to build scalable, reliable systems that turn data into a first-class product at SimplePractice. **Responsibilities** * Collaborate with Product, Analytics, and Engineering to build scalable systems that unlock the value of data from a wide range of sources—including backend databases, event streams, and marketing platforms. * Lead the technical vision and architecture with a holistic short- and long-term perspective. * Work with analytics to drive company-wide alignment through standardized metrics. * Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to support internal use cases such as financial reporting, product analytics, and operational metrics. * Enable external use cases such as customer dashboards, self-service analytics, and in-product next-action recommendations. * Manage the full data stack—from ingestion to consumption. * Build tools that increase transparency in communicating business outcomes. * Collaborate with DevOps to implement and maintain cloud-based data solutions—preferably on AWS. * Help define a data quality and security framework to measure and monitor quality across the organization. Define and promote best practices in data engineering. **Skills & Experience Desired** *Education & Experience* * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field. * 7+ years in data engineering or data analytics. * Strong problem-solving and communication skills; comfort operating in fast-paced, cross-functional environments. *Data Engineering & Pipelines* * Enterprise architecture and enterprise data architecture (data modeling and enterprise dimensional modeling). * Expert-level SQL and data modeling (relational, dimensional, semantic). * Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining data warehouses (Snowflake). * Hands-on experience with DBT for modular, testable transformations. * Experience with orchestration and ingestion: Airflow, Prefect, Airbyte, Fivetran, Kafka. * Familiarity with ELT, schema-on-read, DAGs, and performance optimization. *Cloud & Infrastructure* * Experience with AWS (S3, RDS, Redshift, etc.). * Familiarity with Terraform, Docker, and containerized workflows (plus). * Proficiency handling structured, semi-structured (e.g., JSON), and columnar formats (e.g., Parquet, ORC). *Analytics & Enablement* * Experience building and supporting semantic layers for self-service analytics. * Proficiency with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Sisense. * Ability to standardize metrics and enable reliable, consistent data access. *Programming & Scripting* * Proficiency in Python and Unix/Linux scripting. * Comfort working with APIs (e.g., using curl). **Bonus Points** * AWS DevOps (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker). * Project and change management skills—especially in agile environments (SCRUM, Kanban) with sprint-by-sprint delivery. * Real-time ETL (Kafka streaming, AWS Kinesis). **Benefits** We offer a competitive benefits package that includes: * Private medical, dental, and vision coverage. * Financial support for remote work. * Flexible time off (FTO), wellness days, paid holidays, and "Summer Fridays". * Monthly meal reimbursement. * Holiday bonus, 15-day year-end bonus. * Hybrid work model and meals provided. * Relocation bonus for candidates joining from another city. * Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
