Position Summary: We are seeking a Budget Technician to strengthen Mexico’s Protected Natural Areas (PNA) system by managing and monitoring financial and budgetary reports. Key Highlights: 1. As the overall expected outcome of the project, CONANP is expected to adopt instruments for improving institutional efficiency and participatory governance for effective management of current and projected PNAs, through seven deliverables: · Deliverable 1: Development and transfer of the proposal to improve Strategic Institutional Capacity (SIC) (including identification of SIC gaps or deficits, areas of opportunity, roadmap, and established processes) for CONANP’s institutional efficiency related to PNA management. · Deliverable 2: Development and consolidation of instruments and mechanisms to strengthen governance and citizen participation in Protected Natural Areas. · Deliverable 3: Development and implementation of a proposal to increase ecological representativeness and ecosystem connectivity under protection: incorporation of new PNAs, strengthening of existing ones, and certification of ADVCs (Voluntary Conservation Areas). · Deliverable 4: Design, validation, and transfer of operational processes for prioritizing and efficiently, timely, and coherently developing strategic projects within PNAs in the project’s implementation territories, as well as updating the operational framework mechanism for PNA management. · Deliverable 5: Enhanced financial capacities for strengthening PNAs. · Deliverable 6: Integration and application of instruments and mechanisms promoting strategies for ecological and productive restoration of ecosystems under protection. · Deliverable 7: Generation and systematization of information on project activities carried out: strategic knowledge transfer to strengthen PNA management and conservation. **Hierarchical reporting** The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Assistant Program Representative. **Area of specialization** Budget monitoring activities. **Tasks and responsibilities** The main assignment of the Budget Technician will be to play a key role in formulating and executing the following functions, ensuring alignment with FAO’s institutional objectives in its collaboration with the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP). The incumbent is also expected to closely collaborate with internal teams to foster a collaborative, goal-oriented work environment, thereby contributing to the organization’s continued success and excellence.
