




***Gran Hotel Ciudad de México is seeking*** **WAITER CAPTAIN** **Position Purpose** Coordinate, supervise, and ensure the proper operation of floor service, guaranteeing an exceptional dining experience for guests. Act as a liaison between kitchen, bar, and service team. Attend to national and international guests; therefore, fluent communication in **English** is required. **Key Responsibilities:** **Operations and Service** * Supervise waitstaff to ensure service standards are met. * Assign stations, tables, and tasks at the start of each shift. * Ensure correct table and service area setup. * Personally attend VIP guests or special situations. * Support order taking and service during peak demand periods. * Verify that food and beverage delivery times are met. **Control and Coordination** * Review mise en place, station inventories, and shift requirements. * Coordinate communication among kitchen, bar, and floor staff. * Supervise compliance with hygiene, safety, and food handling policies. **Customer Service** * Resolve complaints and situations with a professional and positive attitude. * Communicate with and resolve needs of international guests in **English**. * Recommend dishes, wines, and pairings when appropriate. **Administrative Duties** * Support onboarding and training of new staff. * Conduct operational closings: cash reconciliations, logs, reports, and shift handovers. * Ensure compliance with sales protocols, promotions, and company policies. **Position Requirements:** **Education** * Bachelor’s degree. * Courses or certifications in service, hospitality, or gastronomy (optional). **Experience** * 2–3 years as a senior waiter or 1 year as a waiter captain. * Prior experience serving international guests (hotels, fine-dining restaurants). **Languages** * **Intermediate–Advanced English** (ability to take orders, resolve situations, and hold conversations). * A third language is valued. **Technical Knowledge** * Service techniques. * POS / restaurant system operation. * Basic knowledge of wines and cocktails. * Hygiene standards. **Soft Skills** * Leadership and team management. * Problem solving and decision making. * Clear communication (Spanish and English). * Customer orientation. * Organization and multitasking. **Key Competencies** * Working under pressure * Proactivity * Attention to detail * Sense of urgency * Empathy and courteous demeanor * Discipline and accountability Employment type: Indefinite-term position Salary: Up to $13,000.00 per month Benefits: * Option for indefinite-term contract * Life insurance * Dining facility * Complimentary uniforms Language: * English (Mandatory) Workplace: On-site employment
