Payroll Officer

**Job Title:** Payroll Officer **Department:** Human Resources **Reports To:** HR Manager **GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)** Reporting to the HR Supervisor, the Payroll Secretary performs general payroll tasks and ensures all employees receive timely and accurate pay. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **Functional Responsibilities** * Maintain employee trust and protect all payroll-related information by ensuring confidentiality * Update payroll records by entering changes in tax withholdings/exemptions, insurance coverage, position/title, regular and bonus rates, and department/center transfers * Manage workflow to ensure all payroll-related updates are processed accurately and on time / semi-annually. * Record and enter timesheets and incidents * Process court-ordered garnishments, child support, and other court-issued documents * Work efficiently to provide payroll-related information by responding to inquiries and requests from both employees and appropriate staff * Enter employee information into payroll software from various forms (tax, banking, salary, and deduction information) * Coordinate with HR * Manage all employee and vendor requests promptly and efficiently * Handle all requests from government agencies and third parties professionally and courteously * Review and process transfers and salary changes * Review and process final settlements * Review the final payroll announcement before submitting it to third parties for payment * Maintain all payroll files * Other assigned duties **Health and Safety** * Work in compliance with all Health and Safety regulations for Cementation * Incorporate Health and Safety considerations into all daily job functions and activities * Monitor the work environment to identify health and safety risks or violations and report them to the Health and Safety Department * Keep the workspace clean and free of clutter * Use appropriate equipment for the task—for example, a step ladder instead of a chair **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education and Experience** * University diploma or equivalent preferred * Minimum 3 years of accounting/administrative or related experience preferred * Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access * Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe Sign * JD Edwards experience preferred * BambooHR experience preferred **Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities** * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Ability to manage confidential communications and information * Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines * Excellent organizational skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities * Advanced keyboarding skills and high accuracy with attention to detail * Experience working with external payroll vendors preferred *"Cementation is an equal opportunity employer."
