Your Opportunity: “QA Engineer (Automation)” You will be responsible for ensuring every change reaching production does so confidently: with meaningful automated coverage, early risk identification, and a quality strategy that supports the team throughout each sprint. Your mission is simple to state but challenging to execute: deliver a product that is reliable, fast, and consistent — without friction for the team. Responsibilities: • Automation as default: design, maintain, and scale automated test suites (UI/API) for your squad’s product. • Risk-based testing strategy: determine what to automate, what to test manually, what to monitor, and what to block (not everything is tested the same way). • BDD without theater: write clear and useful Gherkin scenarios (that truly document behavior and detect regressions). • Framework ownership: operate and improve the automation framework using our stack: Gradle + SerenityBDD + SerenityRest + Screenplay + Cucumber + Java. • CI/CD without excuses: integrate and optimize tests in GitHub Actions (parallelization, stability, execution time, reporting, flakiness). • Quality from refinement: participate in grooming/refinement sessions to clarify acceptance criteria, edge cases, dependencies, and risks before development begins. • Debug & triage: investigate failures (product vs. test), isolate root cause, and collaborate with the team to push fixes. • Quality metrics: propose and track signals such as flakiness rate, journey coverage, defect leakage, CI feedback time, etc. • Evidence-based release gate: approve or reject releases based on data — not intuition. Requirements: • 4+ years of QA experience within software development teams (ideally web + APIs). • Solid automation experience using Java. • Experience with Cucumber + Gherkin (real BDD: maintainable, readable, purpose-driven scenarios). • Experience with API testing (ideal: SerenityRest; otherwise, equivalent tools). • Experience with CI/CD for automated test execution (ideal: GitHub Actions). • Proficiency with Git and collaborative development practices (PRs, code reviews, branching strategies). Plus (gives you an edge): • Experience with the Screenplay pattern and/or SerenityBDD. • Experience reducing flaky tests and improving pipeline performance. • Knowledge of sound test architecture practices (layering, data strategy, test isolation, mocks vs. integration). • Experience embedded in squads operating an end-to-end product.
