Automation Engineer (weekend shift)

Job Summary: This role involves planning and designing automation solutions for manufacturing processes, coordinating technology transfer, and implementing Lean principles to maximize efficiency. Key Highlights: 1. Develop and implement improvements to automation in manufacturing processes. 2. Manage equipment purchase, installation, and develop maintenance programs. 3. Lead projects, provide training, and drive OEE and production metrics. Job Description and Responsibilities The individual in this position will plan and design automation solutions for manufacturing processes. Requires strong experience managing and coordinating manufacturing technology transfer, in addition, requires experience in Lean production principles and tools; capable of analyzing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce to maximize efficiency; and improving production design for manufacturability. * Develop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining, and inspection processes. * Develop and implement maintenance programs for equipment. * Manage equipment purchase and installation. * Prepare manufacturing documentation. * Coordinate projects. * Work closely with internal and external customers and vendors to resolve issues and provide technical support. * Develop systems and layouts that follow lean manufacturing philosophies of one\-piece flow and kanban, with emphasis on mistake proofing. * Lead and direct meetings with other team members and hourly associates. * Manage tooling and gauge design and drawings. * Provide training and guidance to all employee levels in the operation and maintenance of new equipment. * Meet and drive equipment OEE and Uptime. * In collaboration with Process Engineering, drive RTY, FPY, and scrap metric health and improvements. Experience and Requirements * Solid understanding of computer programming and software development. * Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests. * Creative thinking skills. * Detail\-oriented personality. * Ability to communicate well with other members of the development team. * Availability to travel. * Valid USA Visa and Mexican passport. * Manufacturing Automation Engineer with 3\-5 years’ experience. * Lean manufacturing practices (Kanban, Poke\-Yoke, JIT, Value Stream Mapping). * Tool and fixture design and GD\&T. * Strong Project Management skills. * Understanding and functional knowledge of PLCs, low voltage controls, three phase power distribution, vision systems, electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics. * Machine specification and purchase order writing. * Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities. * Design and application knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards. * AutoCAD / SolidWorks / MS Office suite. * Strong communication skills (written and spoken).
