Primary Function: Acts as a renal substitute, utilizing the peritoneum (abdominal lining) as a natural filter to cleanse the body. Contents: Boxes typically contain multiple bags of dialysis solution with varying glucose concentrations (commonly 1.5%, 2.3%, or 4.25%) to control ultrafiltration according to the patient’s needs. Types of Use: Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD): Manual exchanges using the bags during the day. Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD): Bags are connected to a machine (cycler) that automatically performs the process.
