Summary: The Senior Technical Safety Engineer identifies, assesses, and manages technical HSES risks to prevent major accidents, providing strategic and technical safety support throughout the project lifecycle. Spearhead risk assessments and inherently safe design **Position Title: Sr. Technical Safety Engineer** **Job Objective** The Senior Technical Safety Engineer is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing technical HSES risks to prevent major accidents. This role provides strategic and technical safety support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle (Pre\-FEED, FEED, EPCIC), ensuring compliance with technical safety and inherently safe design principles. Main Responsibilities * Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with the Process Safety Management strategy aligned with ISO 17776 and company standards for the Kan Development Project. * Facilitate and support risk assessments including HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, Major Accident Management Plans (MAHP), fire and explosion analysis, emergency evacuation planning, and related studies. * Track, manage, and close all risk study actions to ensure mitigation measures are implemented within project timelines. * Serve as Technical Authority on technical safety engineering matters. * Review and approve safety\-in\-design deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable standards such as API, IEC, NFPA, and ISO. * Lead the development and maintenance of the Case for Safety, demonstrating management of Major Accident Hazards (MAH) in line with regulatory and company requirements. * Ensure MAH risks are reduced to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) levels. * Promote inherently safe design principles and risk reduction hierarchy throughout project phases. * Collaborate with WHP and SURF engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient facility operations. * Provide technical safety input during tendering and contract management processes, including document reviews, technical queries, non\-conformance reports, and cost or schedule evaluations. * Manage and perform technical safety studies while ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to industry best practices. * Lead safety assurance audits related to MAH, barrier health, and Case for Safety. * Support development and review of barrier performance standards for operational handover. * Participate in pre\-startup safety reviews, commissioning safety checks, and operational readiness activities. * Capture and implement lessons learned from previous and ongoing projects. * Lead or support incident and accident investigations related to process safety events. * Provide process safety training and awareness sessions across disciplines. Education Requirements * Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline. * Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CIA in Process Safety Management) are desirable. * Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Experience Requirements * Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. * At least 5 years of experience in offshore projects. * Proven expertise in international safety standards and barrier management. * Demonstrated experience in safety design and detailed engineering reviews for offshore facilities including FPSOs, topsides, and pipelines. Technical Skills * Knowledge of HSES\-Q Management Systems (ISO 9000, 14000, 45000, 31000\). * Expertise in risk management methodologies such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, Bowtie, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). * Strong understanding of human factors, occupational health, and safety\-in\-design principles. * Experience in audit planning and execution. * Ability to manage external safety consultants and interpret risk assessment outcomes. * Experience in incident and accident investigation methodologies. Soft Skills * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. * Ability to work in agile, cross\-functional, and multicultural environments. * Strong conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills. * Results\-driven mindset balancing HSES, production, cost awareness, and people management. Languages * Mandatory: Advanced English (written and spoken). * Preferred: Intermediate Spanish.
