Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little or no supervision. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radios). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment. Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed. Ensure daily activities and issues are communicated to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate advanced ability to read basic blueprints and electrical diagrams related to plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Demonstrate above-average proficiency in engineering operations and solid aptitude for general mechanics. Demonstrate good proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above-average proficiency in two or more of the following categories, and basic proficiency in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Demonstrate solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Safely perform highly complex repairs to physical property, electrical systems, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, and pool heaters, ensuring that all methods, materials, and practices comply with company standards and local and national codes, with little or no supervision. Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including light bulbs, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switch and outlet replacements, and other guest room items. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of all engineering software related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices interfacing with such software. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in diagnosing malfunctions of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Demonstrate proficiency in training and guiding other engineers as needed. Demonstrate proficiency in performing the duties of the On-Call Engineer, including readings and rounds. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents or injuries, complete safety training and certifications, and properly store flammable materials. Ensure both uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain confidentiality of property information and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate guest service needs and fulfill them, assist guests with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure compliance with quality expectations and standards. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others and support the team in achieving common goals; listen to and appropriately respond to other employees’ concerns. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (22.7 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform tasks involving movement without assistance. Climb up and down stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above head level and below knee level, including bending, twisting the waist, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. DESIRABLE SKILLS Education: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or vocational/technical training certificate preferred. (General Educational Development, GED) or vocational/technical training certificate. Relevant work experience: Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electricity or refrigeration; inventory management and parts ordering; preparation of interior and exterior surfaces and painting. Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel engineering/maintenance. Supervisory experience: Supervisory experience not required. REQUIRED SKILLS License or certification: Valid driver’s license Universal Certification for chlorofluorocarbons (CFC).
