




Position Summary: Cardinal Health seeks a Principal Sr. OPEX Engineer to lead operational excellence, drive performance improvements and business transformation using advanced continuous improvement techniques and capability development. Advise on business performance and implement improvements. **What a Principal Sr. OPEX Engineer Brings to Cardinal Health** Operational Excellence is responsible for identifying and executing performance improvement opportunities, facilitating successful enterprise-wide transformations, and applying contemporary process improvement techniques while developing people’s capabilities. The Business Performance Partner is responsible for advising internal or external customers and suppliers to assess current business performance, develop recommendations, and implement process improvements using modern continuous improvement tools. ***Essential Requirements*** * 8–12 years of experience in Operational Excellence (OpEx) within the manufacturing sector * Bachelor’s degree in a related field * English proficiency: Advanced or fluent level * Strong statistical and analytical skills * Black Belt certification * Experience with medium- to high-complexity operational improvement projects * Extensive experience and knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence methodologies **Preferences** * Experience in medical device manufacturing * Training and/or certification in Project Management (PM/PMI); understanding of warehouse and production operational practices **Specific Functions and Responsibilities** * Global Manufacturing Excellence Leaders are responsible for executing strategic objectives for operational excellence within a business segment, unit, or function, including resource selection and development, ongoing project management, and continuous communication regarding progress toward objectives. * Activities include, but are not limited to, resource selection and development; identification, ownership, and tracking of projects directly supporting GPSC’s global manufacturing and corporate engineering global strategies. * Works with multiple cross-functional teams, company professionals and/or senior executives, and independently undertakes actions to synthesize findings, develop improvement recommendations, and lead initiatives. * Demonstrates significant experience applying world-class best practices and process improvement tools while delivering results for our business segment. * Evaluates current business performance against Cardinal Health’s Medical Segment business strategy for a specific site, operational function, or value stream improvements. * Gathers and interprets internal and external customer requirements for a segment or multi-segment process and establishes optimal process parameters. * Demonstrates experience having year-over-year accountability within broad operational excellence improvement efforts. * Understands and can evaluate financial methodologies with long-term cost reduction strategies. * Collaborates with suppliers on inter-organizational improvement opportunities. * Responsible for executing Medical Segment strategic objectives, identifying and resolving complex problems, and providing support and clear accountability to the Global Manufacturing Excellence team and stakeholders. * Conducts independent assessments of current business and/or functional performance within the company using fact-based investigation techniques while maintaining performance improvement scoring and industry benchmarking. * Responsible for aligning with senior leadership and other key stakeholders to develop and implement performance improvement recommendations. * This role focuses on Global Products and Supply Chain (GPSC), specifically supporting global manufacturing and corporate engineering organizations. * Global Manufacturing Excellence Leaders are responsible for executing strategic objectives for operational excellence within a business segment, unit, or function, including resource selection and development, project management. **What Is Expected of You and Others at This Level** * Applies advanced knowledge and solid understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects. * Participates in developing policies and procedures to achieve specific objectives. * Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models. * Works on or may lead complex, large-scale projects. * Projects may have significant and long-term impact. * Provides solutions that may set precedent. * Independently determines the method to complete new projects. * Receives guidance on overall project objectives. * Acts as mentor to colleagues with less experience.
